June 27-29. Week-end Retreat at Saint Anthony Retreat Center, San Antonio,TX: Creation Continues: Becoming Christian in an Evolving Universe.
What is our Christian call in the universe as we now know it? The power of new
creation was lived out by Jesus in his healings, forgiveness of sin and raising
the dead. He taught his disciples to see and live by the same creative vision.
How can we open to that creative newness? We will use Fritz Kunkel’s powerful
reflection on Matthew’s Gospel, Creation Continues, as scriptural
springboard. Brian Swimme’s, The Hidden Heart of the Cosmos: Humanity and the
New Story
(Maryknoll, N.Y.: Orbis, 1996) is a good introduction to our present
understanding of the universe. Kunkel is out of print, but I have permission
from Paulist Press to send a downloaded version to everyone who will be making
the retreat. Simply contact me at
rtsears@gmail.com to get a copy.
Registration: $250 for room or $175 for day participant.
